What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal law that applies to all colleges, universities, and school districts who receive any federal financial assistance. The law is designed to protect all participants in the university’s educational programs from discrimination on the basis of sex, including parents/guests, students, and employees. Title IX also prohibits sexual harassment, which includes sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and sex-based stalking. The law protects all participants from discrimination in recruitment, admissions, financial aid and scholarship decisions; course offerings and access; hiring and retention of employees; and the provision of benefits and leave to students and employees.

Title IX is enforced by the United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.

NEOMED is committed to ensure its students, employees and guests are free from discrimination and harassment in conjunction with any program or activity being conducted on or by the University.

The Law
