The NEOMED Ethical Leader Award is sponsored by the Student Conduct Council and is designed to recognize one outstanding NEOMED student for his/her continued contributions to modeling ethical leadership at NEOMED who most exemplifies the characteristics listed within the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

• Has demonstrated ethical behavior over the course of studies or in a particular situation/event.
• Demonstrates character, moral courage, and ethical conduct while achieving the highest standard of respect for the rights and value of others.
• Abides by the highest level of professional behavior expected of a health care professional.
• Whose moral concern for their peers and community led others toward greater levels of organizational/community responsibility.
• Has shown evidence of a commitment to the principles of the NEOMED Student Honor Code, specifically to altruism, accountability, excellence, duty, service, honor, integrity, and respect for others throughout his/her studies, clinical experiences, and interactions.
• Serves as a role model for other emerging ethical leaders through ethical decision-making that is transformational to others.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS

• Nominator (student, faculty or staff) should complete the NEOMED Ethical Leadership Award nomination form and submit by the published deadline.
• Nominee (student) should be an actively enrolled student at NEOMED.
• May not be a group, but rather an individual student.

The NEOMED Student Organization of the Year Award is designed to recognize one outstanding NEOMED Student Organization for their continued contribution to the University, service to the community, educational program offerings, and demonstration of effective leadership qualities.

• Must serve as a role model for other student organizations
• Must collaborate with other student organizations and University departments to offer and promote educational programs and events
• Community service must be shown to have made a positive impact on both the community and the student organization

Eligibility Requirements

Only registered NEOMED Student Organizations as defined by the Office of Student Affairs are eligible for this award. Eligibility requirements include:

• Active organization for the entire 2019-2020 academic year
• Completed a non-NSC funded fundraiser (or has one planned)
• Completed non-NSC funded community service project (or has one planned)
• Active President, Treasurer and Advisor
• Organization activity must have occurred between July 1, 2019 and March 1, 2020.

The New Student Organization of the Year Award is designed to recognize one outstanding NEOMED Student Organization for their continued contribution to the University, service to the community, educational program offerings, and demonstration of effective leadership qualities.

• Must serve as a role model for other student organizations
• Must collaborate with other student organizations and University departments to offer and promote educational programs and events
• Community service must be shown to have made a positive impact on both the community and the student organization

Eligibility Requirements

Only newly established student organizations that are defined by the Office of Student Services as NEOMED official student organizations, are eligible for this award. Eligibility requirements include:

• Newly established student organization and currently active for the 2019-2020 academic year
• Completed a non-NSC funded fundraiser (or has one planned)
• Completed non-NSC funded community service project (or has one planned)
• Active President, Treasurer and Advisor
• Organization activity must have occurred between July 1, 2019 and March 1, 2020.
• Previously “re-activated” student organizations are not eligible for this award. This means if a group was deactivated for a few years, and this year just recently became active again, they are not considered a new student organization during the 2019-2020 academic year and therefore are ineligible for the award.

The Diversity Student Organization of the Year award is designed to recognize one outstanding diverse student organization who demonstrates a commitment to issues of diversity, inclusion and equity. In addition, the student organization must also develop positive collaborative relationships with other student organizations, community agencies, University departments, and faculty and staff.

• Must make significant and measureable contributions to the underrepresented and larger campus community
• Must contribute positively to the personal and leadership development of its members
• Must support other campus events and diverse student organization
• Must provide support, advocacy, and services that meet the needs of diverse populations
• Must develop events/programs that are educational, promotes high academic ideals, builds/improves cultural awareness, and/or advocated for the needs of underrepresented populations
• Must demonstrate a sustained commitment to the advancement of cultural diversity and inclusion at NEOMED and in the community

Peer tutors are selected based on their dedication to assisting other students with academic needs through individual and small group tutoring sessions. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Only medicine peer tutors who have been trained through the Learning Center within the Office of Student Services are eligible for this award. Eligibility requirements include:

• Enrolled medicine student (M2, M3, M4)
• Must be in good academic standing
• Have provided tutoring services for two or more courses including both individual and small group sessions

The Outstanding Student Leader Award is presented annually to a student showing exemplary academic work, involvement in extracurricular activities, and broad base of awareness and leadership.

• Serves as a role model to their peers
• Thinks critically and creatively
• Articulates a positive sense of direction within their current leadership role
• Has made notable contributions towards changing the campus culture in a positive way through innovation, motivation, initiative, and perseverance

Eligibility Requirements

• Student must be in good academic standing
• Completed at least one community service project in the 2019-20 academic year
• Must hold a leadership position on campus for the 2019-20 academic year (student organization officer, student council/committee representative, peer advisor, etc.)

The Outstanding Advisor Award is presented to a Faculty/Staff Advisor who has lent his/her leadership and expertise to promote the objectives of a registered student organization, council, or committee which he or she advises and who most exemplifies the characteristics listed within the eligibility criteria.

Criteria

• Must make a significant contribution to both the student members and the organization, council, committee which they advise.
• Must exemplify the leadership qualities of service, dedication, mentorship, compassion, consistency, and wisdom

Eligibility Criteria

• The nomination must be made by a student involved with the registered student organization or who serves with the advisor on a student council or committee
• Nominee (Faculty/Staff) must have begun serving as the organization, council or committee advisor at the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester (minimum)
