Surgical tables at NEOMED

The REDIzone was established to leverage NEOMED’s research infrastructure to accelerate the development of early-stage companies. The following resources are in place to support our companies:

Comparative Medicine Unit (CMU)

The Comparative Medicine Unit (CMU) is a secured 41,000-square-foot, multi-species, facility equipped with the latest equipment needed to conduct preclinical studies in support of drug and device studies. The REDIzone will manage the studies in the CMU with standardized agreement and pricing to eliminate the complexity generally associated with working with a university. Working with The REDIzone, qualified investigators can be the PI on their pre-clinical studies, eliminating the need to send out early discovery studies to costly contract research organizations.

Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee is a standing committee at NEOMED, and REDIzone companies receive quick turnaround on their submitted protocols. To streamline the process, NEOMED utilizes eProtocol to simplify the submission of study protocols.

Institutional Biosafety Committee

The Institutional Biosafety Committee assures compliance for the biological safety aspects during the use of recombinant DNA, infectious agents (bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses, and prions), mutagens and carcinogens, biological toxins, and biohazardous materials.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at NEOMED facilitates the review, approval, modification, and disapproval of research protocols while ensuring the rights and welfare of human subjects are protected while participating in research. The REDIzone companies can leverage the onsite IRB to support their research efforts if need.

Environmental & Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS)

The Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) Committee oversees OSHA and EPA compliance, laboratory safety, hazardous agent use, radiation safety, workers compensation and the Occupational Health Program. Companies in The REDIzone can complete their required training requirements through EOHS’s training library to efficiently stay compliant with all laboratory safety requirements.

Hazardous Waste Removal

For companies requiring removal of hazardous waste, The REDIzone simplifies this process and companies can choose for NEOMED to handle the removal of hazardous materials.
