Video Vignettes Explore Transformational Leadership

What does “creating transformational leaders” mean to you?

That’s one of the questions posed to several members of the NEOMED community in a series of video vignettes — brief videos featuring alumni, faculty, staff and students from across the University – now available on the NEOMED YouTube channel.

The video series highlights some of the ways in which members of the NEOMED community contribute to the creation of transformational leaders, explores definitions of transformational leaders, and shares insights on achieving work-life balance.

So how did the community answer the question?

In her video interview, Darcie Flower, senior executive director of operations in the College of Medicine, notes, “The great thing about transformational leaders, when you look at the qualities of a transformational leader, these are things that we can all embody.”

Rising fourth-year College of Pharmacy student Miranda Galleher says, “For me, being a transformational leader means advocating for positive change within your profession and just leading with integrity.”

Fayez Safadi, Ph.D., professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology, shares his view that developing transformational leaders means to “provide them with support to become a leader that has a major impact in what we do. It could be in multiple aspects —  education, health care and research — and I think it’s not a one person job.”
