Too Late to Get a Flu Shot? Think Again.
While Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh’s flu shot segment at the Golden Globes was likely a joke, Richard Watkins, M.D., an associate professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, says the need for the vaccinations is not.
According to the CDC, flu season runs from October/November to May and usually peaks between December and February. The moral of the story — it’s not too late to get your flu shot.
While getting the flu shot doesn’t eliminate your chances of coming down with the flu, it does improve your odds, Dr. Watkins tells SELF magazine, noting that “You are more likely to have a milder illness than if you didn’t get the vaccine.”
