New Physician Leaders at Cleveland Clinic Include NEOMED Alumni

Two Northeast Ohio Medical University alumni have been appointed as physician leaders at Cleveland Clinic.

The role of Serpil Erzurum, M.D. (’83), who has served as the chair of the Lerner Research Institute since 2016, has been expanded. As chief research and academic officer, Dr. Erzurum will now focus on enterprise-wide clinic, basic and translational research. Dr. Erzurum joined Cleveland Clinic in 1993.

Donald A. Malone, Jr., M.D. (‘85), currently the president of Lutheran Hospital, has been named the president of Ohio Hospitals and Family Health Centers. In his new role, he will oversee Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, as well as all Ohio regional hospitals, family health centers and ambulatory sites. A practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Malone joined Cleveland Clinic in 1989.

Dr. Malone received NEOMED’s 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award.
