NEOMED Professor Featured in Psychiatric News
To open the American Psychiatric Association’s Early Psychosis Pre-Conference in New York in October, Erik Messamore, M.D., Ph.D., an associate professor of psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University who specializes in the treatment of schizophrenia, spoke about the connection between cannabis use and first-episode psychosis.
Dr. Messamore, who also serves as director of the Best Practices in Schizophrenia (BeST) Center at NEOMED, was joined by Melanie Bennett, Ph.D., of the Maryland Early Intervention Center; and Susan Gingrich, M.S.W., training coordinator with NAVIGATE, for the discussion.
The event was held prior to APA’s Institute on Psychiatric Services: The Mental Health Services Conference.
