NEOMED Alumnus Delivers Commencement Address at Central State University

Northeast Ohio Medical University alumnus Carl Allamby, M.D. (’19), delivered the keynote address for Central State University’s 2020 Virtual Commencement, held Saturday, May 16.

Now an emergency medicine resident at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, Ohio, Dr. Allamby shared his own struggles through life and medical school, along with words of encouragement for Central State University’s graduating class.

“When I had to give somebody bad news about their car, I spoke to them with the same care and empathy that I now give to a patient who is sick or with a family member about their loved one’s health. Dignity and respect — that’s what matters most to people. Often, it is not what you say, but how you say it,” he said.
