Face Coverings Provide Protection from COVID-19
Many counties and states around the U.S. are mandating that people wear cloth face coverings when out and about.
The CDC also recommends that “people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.”
Richard Watkins, M.D., a Northeast Ohio Medical University associate professor of internal medicine who specializes in infectious disease, tells Yahoo Life, “There are no downsides to mask use.”
He also says that readers should set aside the concerns some have voiced about breathing in the carbon dioxide they exhale while wearing a mask, noting, “This makes no sense, since surgeons have been doing this for over 100 years,”
