College of Medicine Student Selected for National Scholarship

Fourth-year Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine student AuBree LaForce has been selected as one of only six medical students named nationally as 2020 Pisacano Scholars by the Pisacano Leadership Foundation (PLF).

LaForce, a member of NEOMED’s Rural Medical Education (RMED) Pathway, is the second NEOMED student to be selected as a Pisacano Scholar since the start of the program in 1993. The first was Elizabeth Looney, M.D. (’16), who was chosen in 2015.

LaForce, who was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine as the student representative to the NEOMED Board of Trustees earlier this year, received an endorsement from the University before being reviewed by PLF’s selection committee, which later identified her as a future leader in the field of family medicine. She will receive a $28,000 scholarship from the Foundation.
