Are Swollen Glands a Sign of COVID-19?
While swollen glands are commonly paired with colds and the flu, health experts like Richard Watkins, M.D., an infectious disease physician and professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, tell Health.com readers not to worry when it comes to SARS-CoV-2 infections.
In a Health.com article, Dr. Watkins agreed with several other physicians that even though research says that COVID-19 can cause swollen glands, he and others have yet to see swollen glands in their own COVID-19 patients.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), patients affected by COVID-19 are more likely to experience the following symptoms:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
