First Coordinated Specialty Care
Who is FIRST For?
- FIRST serves individuals ages 15-40 who are diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder or other specified/unspecified schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorder and experiencing no more than 18 months of psychotic symptoms, whether treated or untreated.
- FIRST serves individuals with co-occurring substance abuse disorders and co-occurring developmental disabilities.
- FIRST serves individuals with a willingness to consent to participate in at least two of the five treatment modalities.
- FIRST is not appropriate for individuals with psychotic symptoms that are known to be caused by the temporary effects of substance abuse or another medical condition OR individuals with an intellectual disability that impairs their ability to understand the treatment components.
Individuals who do not meet eligibility criteria for FIRST are referred to other treatment resources.
