President Langell Continues Listening Tour

President Langell recently spoke with Krista Kano of the Record-Courier about his multi-month listening tour with students, staff, faculty, alumni and other University stakeholders.

The U.S. Air Force veteran says his first goal is to better understand the community, business and government relationships that currently exist with NEOMED.

President Langell commented, “In Portage, I need to spend more time with our partners and hear what the community would like from us. Is that going to be helping with the development of this specific area and region as far as growing businesses and providing better access to health care? Health care will clearly be from us, but from the business development side, not everyone is interested in seeing an expansion of buildings and businesses. We have to figure out what’s the best balance and how we contribute to the balance. I don’t think most people who live in Rootstown are looking for this to turn into the next Akron/Canton, but how would they like us to contribute to the community.”
