Signage Guidelines
The University began developing this system for standardizing signage with the building of new facilities in 2014. While it has been a work in-progress, many of these sign standards pull from the official facility planning and design standards used by architects, contractors and design professionals who worked with NEOMED staff and a University signage committee. This is not exhaustive and many of these basic minimum requirements are still evolving.
The goals of the signing standards are:
- To visually orient students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University.
- To provide a design framework that establishes consistent aesthetics and quality from building to building.
- To expedite signing programs and requests. It is recognized that these signing standards address only those items that are consistently used on a campus-wide basis. The need for non-standard and specialized signing applications will always exist. For these situations, the sign standards are to be used as a guideline for the development of adjunct signing components. Requests to deviate from the standards must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Some signs in the signage guidelines may have been approved for use, i.e. “Quiet Please” with Nate, but have not been installed.
