Hearing Research Highlighted in Frontiers in Neural Circuits

When the open-access journal Frontiers in Neural Circuits recently devoted an issue to a special research topic, neuromodulatory function in auditory processing, scientists from NEOMED and a student researcher played a prominent role.

Three of the ten articles in the issue originated with scientists from the Schofield and Lu labs in NEOMED’s Hearing Research Focus Area, namely, articles by Noftz, et al.; Goel, et al; and Beebe, et al.

About the journal authors

William Noftz, Ph.D. (above left), is a postdoctoral researcher with the Schofield Lab. He earned his Ph.D. from Kent State University’s School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Neuroscience Program, working with NEOMED researchers through the BMS program in the College of Graduate Studies.

Third-year College of Medicine student Nupur Goel (center) was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She led the team that organized NEOMED’s first TEDxNEOMED event in 2021.

Nichole Beebe, Ph.D., is a research assistant professor in the Schofield Lab. She earned her Ph.D. from Kent State University’s School of Biomedical Sciences Neuroscience Program, working with NEOMED researchers through the BMS program in the College of Graduate Studies.
