Why did you choose pharmacy?
I always wanted to be a health care provider, but my decision was solidified when my brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 11 years old. His disease management was dependent on his health care team. From the dispensing pharmacist, doctors and diabetes educators, I saw a very interdisciplinary approach to disease state management and I realized that I wanted to be a part of interdisciplinary health care team. It was not until my final year of pharmacy school on rotations when I realized that I could function as an ambulatory care pharmacist in clinic and manage diabetes. My career path has exposed me to different pharmacy roles and I am so thankful for all of those experiences to have lead me to my role as a drug information pharmacist in the managed care setting today.
