Class of 2023 White Coat Ceremony

Categories: Student PrideThe NEOMED College of Pharmacy Class of 2023 gathered to mark the transition to the next step in their education with the White Coat Ceremony held Friday, Aug. 23 in the NEW Center Ballroom.
President Gershen welcomed the group to the symbolic event; Richard Kasmer, Pharm.D., J.D., Dean of the College of Pharmacy, thanked Dr. Gershen for his leadership and service as his retirement is approaching on Sept. 30. Dr. Kasmer also presented the Dean’s Leadership Award to former College of Pharmacy faculty member Timothy Ulbrich, Pharm.D., who discussed the increasingly entrepreneurial nature of the pharmacy profession in his remarks.
The day’s keynote speaker, Jennifer Adams, Pharm.D., Ed.D., Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Idaho State University College of Pharmacy, urged the group to, “Take responsibility for change and imagine horizons where pharmacists are empowered to use all of their training and skills.
The student coaters were second-year pharmacy students Mariah Mrofchak, Jason Pol, Mohenad Rasoul and Virginia San Juan, who were nominated by their classmates. Jaclyn Boyle, Pharm.D. (’12) led the group in the Oath of the Pharmacist.
The new class of 99 student pharmacists celebrated this occasion with a reception full of pictures, conversation, and spending time with their friends, family, and new NEOMED community. Welcome, class of 2023!
