About NEON®

Established in 1993, Northeastern Ohio Network® (NEON®) is governed by an Executive Committee that includes a clinical director, six family medicine research site directors, a research coordinator, a community representative and a representative from a medically underserved site. NEON® is recognized as a practice-based research network by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and is a member of the Federation of Practice Based Research networks and the International Federation of Primary Care Research Networks.

NEON® conducts descriptive, interventional and translational research that reflects the values, priorities and primary healthcare needs in northeast Ohio with a focus on disease prevention, management of common health problems including chronic illnesses, and elimination of health disparities, and outcomes of educational processes and interventions.

Mission

Facilitate collaborative primary care practice-based research and scholarship to improve our communities’ health.

Goals

Conduct research leading to improve health of our communities by:

• Promoting scholarship with primary care NEON^® providers
• Disseminating NEON^® research and scholarship
• Increasing participation of new and current NEON^® members
• Facilitating external collaboration of other networks
• Conducting population-based primary care research: including examining assessments, processes, outcomes to improve community health
• Providing research guidance for NEON^® members
